Genwat Chairman reacts to Ofgem Report 10th October 2009
Genwat Chairman believes that by 2020 energy from waste will have a significant role in helping the UK meet it's renewable energy targets.
Mark Mills, Genwat Chairman reacted to the latest report from energy regulator Ofgem by stating that "energy from waste plants have an important role to play in helping the UK meet it's renewable energy targets as well as reducing the amount of waste being sent to landfill.
By 2020 the UK for its part must deliver 15% renewable energy up from a baseline level of 1.5% in 2006. Investment in renewables will be particularly important in the power sector: BERR’s analysis suggests that at least 30% of electricity generation must be delivered from renewable sources by 2020 in order for the target to be met
We must reduce our use of fossil fuels and Genwat's business plans will help to contribute to a more sustainable and guaranteed energy future ensuring that both domestic and business consumers benefit from affordable energy prices as well as reducing the levels of waste sent to landfill".
