General Update

Following on from various press announcements outlining funding for various Energy from Waste (EfW) and green energy projects, Genwat is pleased to report that it has also made tangible progress with a site with the majority of planning in place to build an EfW plant alongside strong indications for its large scale funding requirement.Whilst the matter proceeds and the sites location is obviously confidential, the Directors are pleased with progress in negotiations and expect to announce the outcome full by Christmas.Should the negotiations come to fruition successfully, the site should be adequate to allow the directors to embark upon the flotation of Genwat, which has been discussed at length with the companys advisors and proposed Brokers, all of whom have suggested that the proposition will be adequately compelling provided the market has sufficient appetite and robustness during 2011.

Fundraising

Genwats directors have recently supported a fundraising round to allow Genwat to blast forward to flotation in 2011.Subject to market conditions, investor appetite, the agreement of and ratification of various contracts, the directors strategy is to press for flotation and raise the requisite funds in 2011 to build Genwats first Energy from Waste plant.Whilst the current fundraising has only been offered to existing shareholders, enquiries are welcome from private or trade investors wishing to support Genwats business model.Genwats directors would also like to thank those investors who have already supported the company.

Further Update

A full update is currently being prepared outlining three key areas where the directors have been concentrating their efforts and making progress.Genwats concept is proving to be sound but the time taken to execute various aspects is frustratingly longwinded. However, the directors remain upbeat and thank the investors for their patience whilst Genwat is built over the next 5 to 10 years into an enviable Energy from Waste organisation.A further detailed update will be posted within the next few weeks. Please visit this site again then.Lastly, whilst it has not been helpful that Halliwells, the companys lawyers, has entered into a form of administration, this has had no affect on the company, nor do the directors expect it to.

Genwat Chairman reacts to Ofgem Report

Mark Mills, Genwat Chairman reacted to the latest report from energy regulator Ofgem by stating that "energy from waste plants have an important role to play in helping the UK meet it's renewable energy targets as well as reducing the amount of waste being sent to landfill. By 2020 the UK for its part must deliver 15% renewable energy up from a baseline level of 1.5% in 2006. Investment in renewables will be particularly important in the power sector: BERRs analysis suggests that at least 30% of electricity generation must be delivered from renewable sources by 2020 in order for the target to be metWe must reduce our use of fossil fuels and Genwat's business plans will help to contribute to a more sustainable and guaranteed energy future ensuring that both domestic and business consumers benefit from affordable energy prices as well as reducing the levels of waste sent to landfill".

Genwat Chairman welcomes research

The research found evidence of substantial social consent, both for renewable energy generally and for specific projects, and little evidence to support the continued use of the NIMBY (not in my back yard) concept to explain why some people oppose project proposals. The research concluded that rather than trying to dismiss and undermine legitimate questioning and criticism of particular renewable energy projects, industry and policy makers should instead focus on protecting and nurturing social consent for what is a key part of a low carbon future. No simple formula will achieve this, as each place and context has distinctive characteristics, but the research shows that the importance of factors such as enhancing local benefits; timely and meaningful engagement by developers; trust; and fair planning procedures. Commenting on the research Mark Mills said that "Genwat welcome this report which fully supports our approach of engaging with all community stakeholders in order that all can benefit from the low carbon economy".

UK Planning Minister supports new planning system

John Healey, UK Planning Minister believes that the new planning system will encourage new renewable energy projects. "We know planning is central to reducing our fossil fuel addiction and building up a new generation of renewable energy infrastructure....Decisions are taking too long under the current system and we need a more efficient and predicable system. That is why we are establishing the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) that will enable us to cut the time taken to make big decisions from up to seven years down to under a year and save the economy 300m a year"Genwat Chairman Mark Mills welcomed the comments stating that " a reduction in the time taken to obtain planning permission is a welcome boost as we look to build and operate waste to electricity plants throughout the UK".

Norway Visit

Last week, we were delighted to visit the Energos plant in Norway and see for ourselves the potential of Genwat Services Limited. Not only did we come away enthused by the lack of emissions, the unobtrusiveness of the building and the opportunities it has created for local people, but also with a real belief that our business plan is sound and achievable.Genwat aims to have contacted and met with many UK councils by the end of 2009 and at the time of writing, has also received enquiries from abroad which it will consider.
